Okay, so imagine this. You’re just floating through your day, sipping coffee or whatever, and then boom! Free game alert. Yup, Dead Island 2—that game that’s normally a cool $49.99—is yours for the taking on the Epic Games Store. For free! But just for a bit, like until May 22, 2025, at 8 a.m. PT / 11 a.m. ET. After that, it’s back to normal pricing or whatever.
Honestly, even if you’re not a PC gamer (I mean, I get it, some folks love their consoles), why not grab it for free? Click and done—poof, in your library. I mean, I can’t resist free stuff. Who can?
Throwing it back, I got my hands on Dead Island 2 in April 2023. I was all about it. Gave it four and a half stars—because why not? Gore and action, it’s all there. Running solo or with pals, slicing through zombies feels, I dunno, therapeutic? Like a zombie dance party but with more chaos and, well, blood.
Anyway — uh, where was I? Oh right, so this game’s set after the first ones. You’re in a trapped Los Angeles, zombies lurking, everyone’s just trying to dodge the virus like it’s rush hour traffic. Melee-focused madness with all sorts of crazy weapons—like, ever imagined cutting through zombie decibels with an electrified sledgehammer? Neither did I, until this.
Each character’s got a vibe, like your go-to wrestling move (not that I wrestle, but you get it), and you collect these skill cards. Imagine unlocking a new dance move but, y’know, for fighting zombies. It’s a smorgasbord of chaos, from sneaky attacks to all-out brawls.
Sidebar—does anyone else find this stuff oddly satisfying? Speaking of which, have you seen that Fully Locational Evisceration System for Humanoids? Yeah, "F.L.E.S.H." It’s gruesome but like an art form. B-movie charm mixed with A+ fun. Not even ashamed to love it.
Quick bummer though, console peeps can’t snag it for free. But hey, Xbox Game Pass folks got lucky. Discounts flying around too if you dig a bargain. Maybe it’s just me, but catching deals feels like a win.
Alright, that’s enough rambling. Happy zombie slaying!
