Okay, so FromSoftware has this new thing — “Elden Ring Nightreign.” It’s like a spin on their usual gig, with some co-op twist. They’ve got these “Nightlord” bosses, eight of ’em. I took ’em all on before writing this up, and wow, they might be some of the best they’ve done. But, you know, one stands out: Libra, the Creature of Night. Imagine a demon goat-head. Yeah, wild.
First time I ran into this guy? He’s all human-looking, wearing a hood, just hanging out. Naturally, I was like, “Game on!” and shot him with an arrow. Not the smartest move, it turns out. Dude started growling about how dumb that was and, wow, you can actually chat with him.
So, you talk to him, and there’s this golden scale above his head. Like, trade offers pop up — monkey’s paw stuff. One deal stood out: More levels but lose one every time you sip a healing flask. Risky, right? You don’t have to trade, but come on, where’s the fun in that?
Anyway — no, wait — back to the fight. You make your choice, and “bam,” the clock strikes, and Libra goes full monster mode. He’s flinging magic, putting Madness on you — leaving you exposed if it hits. Picture sparkling glyphs — bright gold things — he’s spamming these left and right. It’s like a personal bullet hell, unless you stay up in his face.
And if you thought you could dodge forever, nah. There’s this move — he kneels, slams the ground, Madness fog everywhere. The only cool part? Little gold crystals drop during Madness attacks. Picking them up is a lifesaver — literally — they heal you and chill the Madness bar.
I can’t recall any boss with a gimmick like this in a Souls game before. It’s like Libra’s channeling Dionysus — madness with style, not just chaos. Makes everything feel fresh and fun.
Oh, another thing, Libra’s biggest strength is also his kryptonite. Get this, he’s weak to Madness. Slam him with it, and he gets rage-mode — does crazy melee attacks. It’s risky but mess up his combo, and he’s wide open. Also, whack him a few with Madness, and boom — enraged.
Finding Madness weapons? It’s hit or miss during runs. Look for places with a Madness icon — might get lucky. Fire and Holy work too, FYI.
Sometimes, in battle, Libra meditates, protected by a shield with golden glyphs around. If he finishes, he buffs. But shoot those glyphs or smash the shield, and he gets all frenzied.
So, Libra’s kind of wild. He’s got this quirky creativity. Maybe I’m biased, but he’s probably my fave of the Nightlords. It’s been chaotic fun battling him, losing a lot, winning occasionally — definitely want to drag my friends into this mess, now that they’re playing too.
And hey, “Elden Ring Nightreign”? It’s really trying something new. Co-op, roguelike — shakes up the Souls formula. Sure, it’s got flaws like just one map, not a ton of enemy variety, but man, for $39.99 (or get a sweet discount on Newegg), it’s gonna be a hot pick for Xbox and PC this year.
