Hey, so today, during PlayStation’s big State of Play event, something kinda wild happened. PlayStation Studios, Marvel Games, and, oh yeah, Arc System Works just decided to team up and drop the news about this new game they’re cooking up. It’s called Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls — which honestly sounds like it belongs in some epic anime crossover, right? Anyway, it’s supposedly hitting PS5 and PC (Steam and Epic, of course) in 2026. Ages away, I know.
So, about Marvel Tokon: Fighting Souls — that’s the title, by the way, in case you didn’t catch it. They’re throwing in a bunch of those heroes and villains we all geek out over. Think Captain America, Iron Man, Spidey, Doctor Doom, Storm (I always liked her, but I digress), Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, and even Ghost Rider. Kinda curious how he’s gonna ride around… Anyway, they’re sticking with comic-inspired skills and movement. Should be colorful, to say the least.
The game director – or heroic mastermind, Kazuto Sekine – shared some juicy bits. He’s all about making this game everyone’s cup of tea. Normally, these fighting games have you juggling a ton of characters. Not this one. Here, pick one, own it, and go wild. He’s promising you can unleash chaos with just a few button hits. Imagine multiple characters appearing on the screen like some superhero flash mob. Wild.
Oh, and the gameplay twist – ’cause there’s always one – instead of the usual 2v2 or 3v3 tag teams, these guys are going 4v4. Sekine thinks this will push the genre forward. Sounds more like a controlled riot, but hey, I’m intrigued.
Also, Sony didn’t stop there. They also announced Project Defiant. It’s this snazzy wireless fight stick they’ve been whipping up. Uses something called PlayStation Link technology. Don’t ask me what that means. Just know it’s supposed to have hardly any lag — kinda important when every millisecond counts, y’know? It’s got a wired option, too, via USB-C. Nice to have choices, I guess.
And that’s the scoop. Let’s see how it all pans out in 2026. Me? I’m off to ponder why I suddenly care so much about fight sticks and 4v4 battles. Life’s a mystery.
