Radeon RX 9070 GPUs Launched with 3.1 GHz Speeds & 340W TDP

Acer’s latest release sees the debut of six shiny new entries in the Radeon RX 9070 series, offering gamers a mix of standard and overclocked models, some boasting boost clocks up to an impressive 3.1 GHz.

In an exciting move, Acer rolled out its fresh lineup of RDNA 4 GPUs, unveiling the sleek BiFrost and versatile Nitro editions. While historically less prominent compared to other AMD board partners, Acer makes a statement with these six new models, evenly split across two categories.

Both the Radeon RX 9070 XT and its sibling, the RX 9070, come in Nitro and BiFrost variants. The BiFrost editions stand out with premium design and top-tier cooling, while the Nitro models are crafted with mass-market appeal but don’t skimp on powerful features.

When we take a closer look at the BiFrost lineup, the Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB catches the eye. It boasts a sophisticated triple-fan cooling system accented with striking silver details around its middle fan. Designed for serious gamers, this card features FrostBlade 4.0 ringed fans, with an intelligent counter-spin system enhancing its heat dissipation capabilities. Its robust build stretches out to about 295 mm and takes up 2.5 slots. With factory overclocking reaching up to 3.1 GHz, this card promises smooth gaming at premium performance levels.

The Acer BiFrost Radeon RX 9070 OC 16 GB shares much of this design, including the striking aesthetic, but runs on two 8-pin power connectors instead of three. Despite the RX 9070 requiring less juice by default, both cards share a 340W rating. Curiously, while two 8-pin connectors can deliver enough power, there’s less wiggle room for overclocking compared to the XT OC’s advantage.

Shifting focus to the Acer Nitro series, gamers will find both overclocked and standard models for the RX 9070 range. The overclocked Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT packs a triple-fan setup and, like the BiFrost edition, boasts a boost clock of up to 3.1 GHz. Its design matches the BiFrost’s in size and layout, demanding three 8-pin connectors and consuming 340W. The non-overclocked Nitro RX 9070 XT, with a TDP of 304W, retains the three connectors and can rev up to 2970 MHz when the action heats up, with gaming speeds reaching 2.4 GHz.

The lineup also features the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 OC, clocking up to 2.7 GHz, alongside its standard counterpart at 2.52 GHz. The OC version is rated at 245W, while the standard sits at 220W, maintaining a unified aesthetic for both.

Though Acer has yet to announce the full roster’s prices, they’ve set the Acer Nitro Radeon RX 9070 XT OC 16 GB at a steep $829.99, hinting that the BiFrost editions might push even higher on the price scale. As for their launch, the Nitro RX 9070 XT OC is anticipated to hit U.S. markets by April, but details on the others remain under wraps.
