Okay, so here’s my totally human take on the Battlefield 6 stuff. Honestly, I stumbled across some chatter from David Sirland (one of the game developers) about how buildings falling apart can actually hurt players. You know, maybe not right away, but it adds up—like when your phone keeps buzzing until you just can’t ignore it. Weird analogy? Maybe. Anyway—wait, no—where was I? Oh yeah, the game’s all set to drop on October 10, which is sooner than it feels, honestly.
And the beta? Geez, people went wild for it. Over half a million players just couldn’t wait to jump in and blow stuff up. I mean, it sounds fun, right? Add that to the fact it’s already outperforming its rival, you-know-who (yep, Call of Duty), on Steam. No idea why I noticed this, but the way pieces of buildings tumble in gameplay totally reminds me of that time I knocked over a Jenga tower at my cousin’s wedding. So awkward.
Digging into it more, Sirland tweeted back at someone worried about, of all things, the damage from falling stuff—like rubble and whatnot. He says, yeah, it does damage but not like immediately instant. Like, stand there a bit too long, and suddenly, ouch! It’s all about things being fun and less random. They want it tuned more, though. Maybe they’ve got this massive plan to rethink how debris should really mess you up. Or maybe they’re just guessing and hoping for the best. Who knows?
This whole destruction thing seems to be the big talk in the Battlefield circle. And with more beta testing happening from August 14 to 17, the buzz may just go louder. Part of me is like, shouldn’t everything have some crazy sliding problem? But then again, I could be overthinking it.
And that’s about it, I think. Or did I miss something? Anyway, if you’re like me and into watching digital worlds crumble while safely parked on your couch, October’s gonna be interesting. Here’s hoping the second beta rocks even more faces off. Or at least gives us something to argue about online.
