HoYoverse just dropped a bombshell—Genshin Impact’s getting booted from PS4. Come next spring, it’s sayonara to updates on your trusty console. Oh, and it’s vanishing from the PlayStation Store next month, with all those shiny in-game purchases melting away by February 2026. After that? Poof! PS4 support’s gone. No more logging in, nada.
Here’s the thing though, HoYoverse spins it all around “hardware performance and platform app size.” Yeah, they say that’s the big issue, kicking off the whole deal come September 9, 2025. That’s when you won’t find it in the Store anymore. Didn’t grab it by then? It’s falling off the radar.
And by February 25, 2026, say goodbye to all those in-game buys. Whether they’re sitting pretty in your account or not, better claim them, or they’re history.
Finally, April 8, 2026, rolls around and boom—total shutdown on PS4. But hey, you can still play on Xbox Series, PS5, PC, or even on that glowing glass rectangle in your hand. Seriously, it’s kinda weird. Using the same hardware spiel, yet it’s running on mobiles without a hitch? The PS4’s no spring chicken, sure—it came out way back in 2013—but it’s an oldie with goodies. I mean, 8GB RAM and half a terabyte of storage sounds like a decent deal, right?
Reached out to HoYoverse, and a spokesperson chimed in: “To better support future version updates and optimize game performance, Genshin Impact will raise its device specifications.” Right, okay then. But does this mean old Androids might flounder too? Yep, some might. PS4 though? Feels like it should hang in there. Guess modern games just aren’t built to last forever.
