With their trademark wit, Devolver applauded developers for their “boldness and tenacity” in pushing these games into the next financial year. So, who triumphed in these tongue-in-cheek categories? Here’s the rundown of the “winners” alongside some fictional nominees:
– Best Inadvertent Tripping Simulator
– Best Late-Stage Capitalism Roguelite
– Best Glass Demon in a Leading Role
Beyond the imaginary awards for imaginary games (let’s be honest, a Windshield Repair Simulator sounds oddly intriguing), the event also featured words from the developers behind the games actually experiencing delays. Notably, Skate Story’s own Sam Eng had a bit of a mishap, breaking his arm—so maybe cut them some slack if you’ve been eagerly waiting for its release. It’ll be worth the wait.
