SNEG has finally announced the release date for the much-anticipated adventure game, Captain Blood, set to launch on the Nintendo Switch.
Originally slated for the Xbox 360 back in 2010, Captain Blood hit a major snag when its publisher went bankrupt, leaving the game in limbo due to legal hurdles that kept the developers from releasing it. Now, 15 years later, those issues have been ironed out.
In the riveting story, you’ll play as Captain Blood, tasked with rescuing the magistrate’s daughter after she’s kidnapped. He’s no ordinary pirate captain—in fact, he’s the most rugged pirate to sip grog while charming ladies across the Spanish Main. Prepare for a series of epic adventures featuring everything from cannon blasts and pistol duels to thrilling sword fights and plenty of pirate escapades.
Artem Shchuiko, co-founder of SNEG, shared some insights: “Captain Blood is a tribute to a different era in gaming when you could dive into a linear, QTE-heavy game and wrap it up over a weekend. It’s packed with charm and nostalgia. The original team and everyone here at SNEG Ltd. poured everything into this game. We’re thrilled to finally bring an old-school pirate adventure to gamers of all ages.”
The game’s intriguing features are:

- Heart-Pounding Action: Engage in intense hand-to-hand combat, making sure enemy pirates and landlubbers know who’s in charge using a variety of sleek combat moves.
- Shipboard Clashes: Defend your ship from enemy boarders with special moves, combos, and finishers while unleashing cannon fire on rival vessels!

Captain Blood is set to launch digitally on the Nintendo eShop for the Nintendo Switch, hitting stores worldwide on May 6, 2025.
