Man, it feels like forever since Activision tossed us a bone about Black Ops 7, right? I mean, this year’s Call of Duty was like, dropped on us back in June with this super quick teaser during the Xbox Showcase. And then… crickets. Nada. Zip.
Anyway, they mentioned, like cryptically, that we’d know more this summer. What does that even mean? Summer’s like a whole season, not a set date, guys!
So here we are, smack dab in mid-July — wait, is anyone else sweating buckets? — and we’re all still twiddling our thumbs. But hey, plot twist! Activision’s finally breaking the silence. We’ve been promised to get another peek in August. Yep, they’re telling us to pencil the game into our calendars for gamescom Opening Night Live. It’s happening Tuesday, August 19, just in case you’ve lost track of the days like I did.
And here’s an interesting tidbit—these Call of Duty games usually get their own big reveal hoopla, all separate from the usual summer bonanza. Like, it’s such a big deal usually, but I’m not complaining about the change of scenery. Are you? Anyway—and oh, by the way, the show’s going live. Catch it at 11 am PT, 2 pm ET, 7 pm UK if you want all the juicy bits.
Now, don’t quote me on this, but I have no clue what’ll go down on August 19. Maybe they’ll give us a taste, maybe they’ll save the meat for later, maybe a September showcase—who knows! Like, a teaser before the beta rolls out would make sense, right? But your guess is as good as mine.
The Black Ops 7 folks have been tight-lipped about a lot—especially about the game hitting this near-future vibe again, and oh, a co-op campaign’s coming back. I heard fans are hoping for some storyline threads from Black Ops 6, but only time will tell if those dreams will come true. Hope they spill the beans sooner than later.
Oh, and about when we can actually play this thing? Still no set date, but I’m betting on November for all the usual systems—PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and the new Xbox what’s-it-called.
