Valve Offers Refurbished Steam Deck OLEDs at 20% Discount: 512GB for $439 and 1TB for $519

Valve has just added the Steam Deck OLED to its list of certified refurbished products, offering gamers a chance to grab this vibrant variant at a significantly reduced price. If you’re looking to save some bucks, these refurbished OLED models are about 20% cheaper than purchasing them brand new.

Both the 1TB OLED and the 512GB Steam Deck OLED models are now available through this program. The 1TB option comes in at a cool $519, while the 512GB version is tagged at $439. To put that into perspective, the brand-new 1TB version typically costs $649, and the 512GB one is priced at $549. That’s a savings of $120 for the 1TB and $110 for the 512GB model — making the refurbished 1TB even cheaper than a new 512GB.

For those curious, the only brand-new Steam Deck that beats these refurbished prices is the older 256GB LCD model, which currently sells for $399. While Valve offers refurbished LCD models too, the 64GB, 256GB, and 512GB versions are all currently out of stock. Plus, you won’t find the 512GB and 64GB LCD models brand new anymore.

It’s also worth noting that the OLED version of the Steam Deck is more than just a slight update. Besides switching to an OLED display, this model boasts a 90Hz refresh rate, a 7.4-inch screen size, and HDR support. You’ll get 400 nits of standard brightness, with HDR mode reaching up to 1000 nits. In contrast, the older LCD model had a 7-inch display, maxed out at 60Hz, and didn’t support HDR.

Underneath the exterior, there have been some key improvements as well. The battery has been bumped up from 40Wh to 50Wh, promising anywhere from 3 to 12 hours of gameplay, compared to 2 to 8 hours on the LCD model. The OLED version also boasts faster RAM, jumping from 5500MT/s LPDDR5 to a speedier 6400 MT/s LPDDR5, and the AMD APU has gone from a 7nm to a 6nm process.

Refurbished Steam Deck OLEDs are available in select regions, including Canada, the EU, the UK, and the US. They come with a standard one-year warranty, though in some countries, it might be longer.
