Oh man, so Saber Interactive—those folks who did World War Z back in 2019—are diving into VR. Like, I can almost hear the zombie moans already, you know? They’re dropping this VR take on August 12th, hitting up Quest and SteamVR. Not gonna lie, I wasn’t expecting it.
So get this: World War Z VR is not just a quick port. Nope, it’s built from scratch, specifically for VR. Imagine jumping from towers of undead right in your face—or, well, don’t if that’s freaky. Anyway, this time you’re not watching from a distance. It’s first-person POV, baby. Set in New York, Tokyo, Marseille. Why those cities? No clue. But I guess they look cool?
And they’re saying you’ll face over 200 zombies at once. Seriously, 200?!? In VR?! If the mechanics are like the original, but revamped, then my heart might not handle it. Think there are seven characters you play as, loaded with weapons and perks. Three difficulty settings too. Maybe I’ll start on easy because, well, you know.
Those zombies aren’t mindless either. Kind of makes me nervous. What if they outsmart me? I might need more coffee. Or less. Anyway, they’re adapting to how you play. And there’s some scarier, special ones too. Just like the movie and book—how special infected crank up the tension. Man, my palms are sweating just thinking about it.
Price tag is $20. No pre-order discounts, bummer, but there’s a ‘Golden Skin Pack’ if you jump in early. Cosmetic bling for beating back the hordes? Why not. Just make it till August 12th. I’ll be here, nervously waiting.
