Ugh, where to even start with this? So, you know Leslie Benzies, right? The genius behind all those GTA games? Yeah, he’s back with a new game called MindsEye. Expect it to be like GTA, but, well, not quite like GTA. Released it on June 10 — and guess what? People on Steam are like, “Nah, not feeling it.” Mostly negative reviews, if you can believe that.
Everyone’s pointing fingers at the bugs and lack of polish. I mean, can you imagine waiting for years, and all you get is a game that feels kinda… unfinished? Oh! And people say it was “rushed.” Makes you wonder if they were just trying to hit a deadline or something. Anyway, it’s out on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S if you want to check it out for yourself.
Oh, speaking of Benzies, it’s been a hot minute since his Rockstar days, huh? There was some drama with him leaving Rockstar, and now he’s with this new studio called Build a Rocket Boy. Fancy name — but does the game live up to it? Players are kinda meh about it. They say it mirrors GTA vibes with the storytelling and shooting, but it seems like something’s missing.
Side note: The game’s supposedly a single-player action-adventure thing. They used Unreal Engine 5 for it, which is usually cool, right? But then again, that doesn’t fix the bugs. Ha! The irony.
Steam users are basically dragging it through the mud. They talk about how it doesn’t run well even on souped-up PCs. Yet, on consoles like PS5 and Xbox? The reviews aren’t as brutal, but still, it’s not winning Oscars or anything. In the US, PS Store users gave it a “meh” 3.26 out of 5. Xbox folks seem slightly kinder — close to 4 stars from 127 people.
And here’s what’s weird: Bugs were reported ages ago during previews, but they got shrugged off. So now, Build a Rocket Boy has to play catch-up. You know, they need to release patches to fix things. I’m keeping my fingers crossed that they pull it off because it’d be a shame if all that anticipation led to…this.
Oh well, we’ll see if the game gets better, or if it’ll go down as a big “what could have been.” At least Benzies is back in the mix, right? Even if MindsEye isn’t quite hitting the mark, there’s always the next project to look forward to.
