AMD has put an end to the speculation surrounding the possibility of a Radeon RX 9070 XT GPU with 32 GB of memory.

### Frank Azor Sets the Record Straight: No 32 GB RX 9070 XT in the Works

Recently, there have been whispers in the gaming community about AMD developing a 32 GB RX 9070 XT GPU. This buzz started when a leaker on Chiphell hinted that such a model might be on the way this year, supposedly as part of the ‘Gaming’ series rather than the PRO lineup. However, AMD has officially dismissed these rumors.

Frank Azor from AMD addressed this directly in response to a query on Techpowerup’s internet chatter, confirming that a 32 GB version is not in the cards:

The upcoming Radeon RX 9070 XT is set to feature 16 GB of GDDR6 VRAM. Given the GPU’s design and target capabilities, a jump to 32 GB wouldn’t significantly boost gaming performance, which aligns with why AMD hasn’t pushed such memory limits for gaming GPUs up to now. Adding 32 GB would more likely serve AI applications rather than gaming, and it seems AMD isn’t pursuing this direction for their upper-mid range offering. The RX 9070 XT, based on the Navi 48 GPU, is positioned as the top card in the RDNA 4 lineup, indicating that AMD is capping the VRAM at 16 GB for these models.

For those awaiting AMD’s full lineup, the RX 9000 series is set for its grand unveiling on February 28th. At this event, AMD will release official specifications, pricing, and performance details. Shortly after, in early March, these GPUs will hit the shelves, coinciding with NVIDIA’s anticipated launch of the GeForce RTX 5070 GPU.
