A Guide to Diving and Swimming Underwater in Hello Kitty Island Adventure

Diving into the colorful world of Hello Kitty Island Adventure can be a complete thrill, especially when exploring the vibrant underwater realms of Rainbow Reef. To truly get the most out of your adventure and meet Hangyodon, securing the Snorkel and Flippers is essential. Beneath the waves, there’s a treasure trove of hidden goodies, including mysterious items and chests, just waiting for you to discover.

Unlocking the Flippers

To get your hands on the Flippers, you’ll need to first complete the Power Up the Gate quest. Once that’s done, and you’ve managed to unlock more of the island, make your way over to Keroppi in the Swamp area. You’ll find him taking a stroll along the path in Lilypad Lagoon. Present him with his Welcome Gift, and this gesture will initiate the "Finding Flippers" quest for you.

Getting the Snorkel

The Snorkel, your ticket to underwater exploration, comes a bit later in your journey. The process to obtain it is straightforward but requires unlocking the Deep Diving quest. To kick off this adventure, you’ll need to reach Level 6 Friendship with Kuromi. Once you’ve achieved this level, the Deep Diving quest will automatically begin.

Navigating Underwater

Equipped with the snorkel, all it takes is a jump into any sizeable body of water, and you’re ready to dive beneath the surface. As soon as you do, control icons will appear on the right side of your screen, guiding you on how to proceed with the dive.

While I used a controller for my gameplay, and found that the right control stick adjusts your character’s depth, letting you dive deeper or ascend, the left stick allows for sideways movement. PC players can use the Ctrl and Shift keys to move vertically while using the arrow keys for horizontal navigation.

While below the surface, be mindful of your stamina bar—this limits the duration of your underwater exploration. Once it runs out, you’ll naturally return to the surface to catch your breath. Fortunately, this mechanic won’t harm your character; it simply puts a cap on how deep and how long you can stay underwater.
