February 2025, typically a quiet month for major game releases (excluding one that’s been postponed), now has an exciting addition to its lineup. “Keep Driving,” a quirky driving RPG where you engage in turn-based combat while gathering supplies, is set to debut.
If you haven’t encountered this delightfully odd game, I got a taste of it during last year’s Steam Next Fest demo and only once found myself outwitted by a puddle. In essence, the game is about embarking on a road trip to a friend’s house. You and your car must navigate typical road hazards while managing the fundamental needs of food and rest along the way.
The complete edition of “Keep Driving” is scheduled for launch on February 6 on PC via Steam. This exciting news was shared by the Swedish developer, YCJY Games, through a cheerful tweet.
There’s also a new trailer out which showcases snippets of the game’s turn-based vehicular brawls with obstacles like tractors, sheep, and potholes. It also hints at the additional vehicles you can stock with essentials for yourself, your car, and any hitchhikers you might encounter. I have a fondness for the demo’s not-quite-Volvo, but the idea of tearing around in a pickup truck is undeniably appealing to my inner Johnny Cash fan.
An interesting tidbit from the developers revealed that while “Keep Driving” is currently a PC-exclusive, there are plans in the works to bring it to consoles, though they’re unsure which ones yet, aside from the Switch. Personally, I’m hoping for a PS2 port so I can easily switch between this and some classic Need For Speed action.
For now, fingers crossed that the full release of “Keep Driving” amplifies the compelling vibe that captured my attention during the demo stage.
