Alright, so I stumbled into this game called Fireball 2, which is like an arcade survival sort of deal. And let me tell you, it’s got this vibe like you’re trapped in a neon rave—kind of wild, right? Anyway, it’s on the PS5 and I thought, why not take it for a spin?
So get this, you control this fireball that’s basically your buddy here. The whole point is to dance around, avoid getting smothered by enemies, and use bombs to turn them into pixel dust. You lure them in, the way you sneak a cat into a box with treats—then, boom! Higher scores and all that jazz. But trust me, when you’re swarmed by what feels like the entire bug planet (Starship Troopers anyone?), even your joystick might start sweating.
Oh, yeah! There are two modes. Core, which feels sorta like the standard setting, you know? You just go with the flow, enemies running around trying to dodge bombs. Then there’s Chaos Mode. I mean, talk about throwing you into the deep end. The bad guys pop out of nowhere, all chill but relentless. It’s like they know your every move — creepy, huh?
Now, about controls, you know the usual dance. Left stick, D-Pad, and smash those buttons for speed boosts. But be warned! Infinite boosts? Not as great as it sounds. I tried boosting through a crowd and, surprise, ran straight into a neon meat grinder of doom.
Bomb enough baddies and you get this thing called a Nova. It’s basically bomb 2.0—bigger, meaner, and throws a party they won’t forget. And hey, you level up too. Your fireball grows stronger, and suddenly you’re the big cheese. Get enough Novas and they merge into a Blackhole. Seriously, it’s like the game went all sci-fi on me. Invincible as it cleans the screen for a while. Pretty satisfying if you ask me.
Oh, and there’s a trophy list for all you completionists out there. Gold, silver, and bronze, sprinkled like confetti over your victories or failures. Survive stages, blow stuff up, die a few times—yeah, the devs know players all too well.
What’s it cost, you ask? Just $6.99. If you have some spare change and a craving for neon chaos, maybe give it a look. Just beware, things get pretty hot once you hit the ground, or whatever they call the place under that relentless enemy onslaught.
Disclaimer thingy: Radiangames tossed a PS5 copy my way, so, there’s that. Now go forth! Or don’t. It’s all in the chaos.
