Whoa, where do I even start with this whole Apple headset thing? First off, Apple’s really gone and done it again. They’re setting this crazy high standard for how standalone headsets should feel. I mean, sure, it’s kinda bulky and costs a fortune right now, but imagine if it wasn’t. Like, seriously, if they shrink it down and the price drops, more folks might give it a whirl, right?
Okay, so Apple’s calling the Vision Pro “tomorrow’s technology, today.” And you know what? That kinda fits, if we’re just talking about how easy it is to use. Compared to other headsets, it’s like night and day. Not to bash the Quest or anything, but Vision Pro just does so well what it sets out to do. But yeah, it’s ginormous and not exactly budget-friendly. My take? Most people shouldn’t bother right now.
But — and it’s a big but — just because it’s not flying off the shelves doesn’t make it a flop. Trust me, been using this thing since day one, and it’s miles ahead of its competition. Saying it flopped is a bit like ragging on a Ferrari for not being as common as a Honda Accord. Makes sense?
I mean, I have no clue if Apple hit their sales targets or not. What I do know is, the experience is super solid, though the price and heft hold it back. If they could chop the size and price in half, I bet they’d sell like hotcakes.
There’s even this image floating around — a mock-up or something — showing a more compact design. Just imagining this thing trimmed down to around 310 grams, it’s a wild dream. But not totally out there if they keep the battery elsewhere. Like Bigscreen Beyond, anyone? That one’s light as a feather comparatively.
And if the cost were sliced by half, we’d be looking at around $1,750. Still not exactly pocket change, but a lot less ouch than what it is now. And if Apple markets it as a killer TV replacement too? Well, then maybe folks will start seeing its worth.
But aren’t we all hoping our tech would get smaller and cheaper? It’s not rocket science to see why Apple needs this. Vision Pro’s got more to gain than, say, the Quest, from shrinking down. Quest’s experience is still a bit clunky, let’s be real.
The Vision Pro’s potential is kinda just waiting to burst out. It’s not just about looking neat—it’d be game-changing. Although, yeah, easier said than done. Someone might say the awesomeness is in its costly hardware. Maybe. But really, it’s the sharp software that makes it stand out. Somehow Quest 3 has a better resolution on paper, but who cares if Vision Pro just looks prettier, right?
And while we’re cutting size and price? There’s even more to hope for. Like sharper visuals without the blur and slicker software. Apple’s already set this gold standard for usability. Now it’s more like, “Okay, Apple, can ya please make this thing lighter and cheaper soonish?”
Anyway, that’s my two cents on it. Maybe the future’s closer than we think. Or maybe I’m just wishfully speculating. Who knows!
