So, about those cat and bunny folks in Final Fantasy 14? You know, the ones always missing out on cool headgear? Finally, some good news! On Friday, during this Letter from the Producer Live stream, the game’s creators announced—wait for it—Hrothgar and Viera characters can soon show off their headgear in Patch 7.3. I mean, it’s about time, right?
Since these guys popped up in 2019’s Shadowbringers, they’ve been, like, stuck with limited hat options. Kinda awkward when you’ve got all those unique heads with big ol’ cat and bunny ears. So, dressing them up has been tricky. But hey, that’s changing soon!
Square Enix also tossed out a juicy tidbit—more headgear, including helmets, is coming in future updates. Fingers crossed they zero in on those snazzy paid outfits Hrothgar and Viera can’t currently flaunt.
And sure, while hats for our furry pals are cool, that’s not the whole story. There’s more Naoki Yoshida and Toshio Murouchi spilled during that Friday talk.
With Patch 7.3, entitled The Promise of Tomorrow, the Dawntrail story’s wrapping up. Expected around early August, FYI. Plus, there’s buzz about some new allied society shenanigans featuring the Yok Huy. Oh! And a level 100 expert dungeon named The Meso Terminal. Oh man, where was I going with this?
Anyway, there’s also a mystery trial (normal and extreme, of course), a 24-player alliance raid called San d’Oria: The Second Walk, and an Unreal trial pitting players against Seiryu in The Wreath of Snakes. Not to mention a brand new Deep Dungeon, Pilgrim’s Traverse. Phew.
But honestly, none of that tops the joy of seeing Hrothgar and Viera strutting with hats—finally closing the chapter on their six-year hat drought.
And if you’re wondering, Final Fantasy 14 Online’s playable now on, well, everything: Mac, PS4, PS5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X. Dive in, maybe?
