The other day, I stumbled across this quirky story about Rob Yescombe. Who’s he, you ask? Oh, just the dude behind this cool VR mystery game, “The Invisible Hours.” Ever heard of it? Anyway, the guy just snagged back the rights to his game. And get this, he’s dreaming about a remaster for modern VR headsets. Cool, huh? Oh, and maybe a TV or film thing. Hollywood Reporter spilled the beans on this one.
So, picture this: Agatha Christie vibes mixed with Clue, all wrapped up in a VR game. You’re there, but like a fly on the wall, just peeking around as a murder mystery unfolds in this sprawling mansion. There’s this whole island vibe too. Big reveal? You’re not a character, but more like a ghost with a remote control, rewinding and fast-forwarding through scenes, trying to figure out who offed Nikola Tesla of all people. Wild, right?
It hit the shelves back in 2017 for PC VR headsets and the old PSVR. Critics were all over it, saying good things. Tequila Works had plans to bring it to Quest, but then in 2024, poof, they closed up shop before anything happened. Bummer.
Now, Yescombe’s got the reigns again and is all gung-ho about a remaster. He’s quoted somewhere, don’t ask me where, going on about how making “The Invisible Hours” was the best creative ride of his life. His fans? Still blowing up his inbox with love notes. And hey, VR gear’s blowing up too, millions out there now. So, why not a remaster?
Since wrapping up “The Invisible Hours,” Yescombe’s been busy scribbling for other games. Stuff like “The Twilight Zone VR” in 2022, and he got on board for “Arizona Sunshine 2” in 2023. There’s more, “The Precinct” hit the screens in 2025, all thanks to Fallen Tree Games.
Oh, but wait, there’s more. Yescombe dipped his pen in the movie world too. He penned Mikael Håfström’s “Outside the Wire” for Netflix in 2021 and this action-comedy thing, “Jackpot!” by Paul Feig, came out in 2024. Rumor has it, he dabbled a bit with some big-name franchises: Alien, Blade Runner, and even Family Guy.
Was supposed to wrap this up, but hey, life’s messy and I lost my train of thought. Oh well.
