Alright, so picture this: Stainless Games, known for that wild ride called Carmageddon, just did a bit of a shuffle at the top. Ben Gunstone, yep, you heard right, just snagged the CEO gig. Patrick Buckland, the guy who’s been there since, like, forever—1994 to be exact—is passing the torch. He’s still hanging around as the Executive Chairman though. Honestly, how could he not? Company’s kinda his life’s work.
Gunstone’s been kickin’ it with Stainless since 2022. Started as a game director. Fast forward a few years, boom, he’s the operations director. And now, here he is, taking charge. Before this gig? He was with Dovetail Games, but that’s a story for another time.
When Gunstone got the news, he was all kinds of thrilled. (Or so I imagine, because, wouldn’t you be?) He’s looking forward to keep pushing Stainless into the future. There’s something about “making great games being in the company’s DNA,” which, if you think about it, is quite a statement. I mean, can DNA even do that?
Meanwhile, Buckland’s doing a bit of a sidestep into this new chairman role. Did I mention he made a crack about looking 70? Gotta love a guy with humor. He’s taking a step back from the everyday grind. And who can blame him? Running a company’s gotta be like herding cats—except the cats are on fire. Figuratively. I hope.
So, yeah, the old boss trusts the new boss—everything’s coming up roses over at Stainless. At least that’s what they want us to think. Am I missing something? Maybe. Who really knows with these company shake-ups? All I know is, the gaming world’ll be watching to see what Gunstone does next. No pressure, right? Anyways, here’s to the new chapter.
