Ugh, where do I even start with this whole Resident Evil Requiem hype? If you were tuning into June’s Capcom Spotlight like me, maybe you felt kind of… meh? Don’t get me wrong, we got a peek, sure. But it wasn’t the full-on gameplay explosion we kinda wanted, right? Just me? Guess not.
So, here’s the thing: Capcom’s doing this weird dance, giving us a glimpse of why they’re pushing the sequel this way. But honestly, it was more like a developer diary thing — you know, talking heads and all that. Which, okay, can be cool, but I wanted more zombie-smashing action in my face. That’s not too much to ask, right?
They threw us a bone, I suppose. The devs finally spilled about Grace, the main gal of the game. And yeah, she’s got Ashcroft blood running through her veins — the family from Resident Evil Outbreak. Who knew, huh? It’s like Capcom’s trying to tie all these loose threads together. Or maybe they’re just messing with us. I don’t know anymore.
With Requiem’s story, they’re veering off the Winters family path. I mean, it’s the 30th anniversary, so maybe they’re just feeling nostalgic. Raccoon City, Umbrella, all the classics. But what about Leon? You know, our favorite cool cop? Why isn’t he in the spotlight? Capcom’s reasoning: they need someone who’s not all “been there, done that.” Apparently, Leon’s too chill for this rodeo.
Grace is different. She’s like us — jumping at every creak and shadow. And let’s face it, that’s kind of refreshing. She’s FBI, yeah, so she’s no rookie with weapons. But she’s not a one-man army, and thank goodness for that.
Oh, and speaking of surprises, guess what? You can play Requiem in both first and third-person. Capcom says it’s not because of that Village DLC. More like players just get comfy with one perspective. Who knew?
Mark your calendars, folks. February 27, 2026. PCs, PS5s, and Xbox Series X/S better be ready. And hopefully, so are we.
