Okay, so here goes nothing. Eh, where do I start? Let’s see, some VR stuff is happening. Oh yeah, Eldramoor: Haven in the Mist. Catchy name, right? Apparently, they’re gonna try their luck on Kickstarter next week—aiming to revive the mojo of Orbus VR, which, by the way, recently went kaput.
Mark your calendars because June 24th is the big day. That’s when the Kickstarter kicks off (pun not intended, or maybe it was). They’re dreaming big, wanting to make a splash on Quest 3 and SteamVR headsets by late next year. Ambitious much?
Here’s a fun fact: Resolute Games, the brain behind this project, consists of ex-Orbus fans. I guess they figured if you want something done right, do it yourself, right? They’ve been grinding since February 2024 to spit out a VR world that doesn’t flop.
What’s the game about? Well, it’s got this whole mystical vibe. You’re in Eldramoor, following some legendary dude named Eldranis. There’s fighting, learning cool skills, and chilling with friends in taverns, maybe over a pint. Dark forces, mysterious pasts, the usual jazz. Honestly, it sounds like an epic fantasy novel, now that I think about it.
Characters? Let’s talk about those. You can choose from Warriors, Mages, Monks, and Alchemists. Oh, and there are raids and all that jazz, too. PvP zones? Yeah, they got three of those if you’re into that sort of thing. Plus, fishing and woodcutting. Who knew virtual woodcutting could be a thing?
And hey, don’t even ask about funding and stretch goals—mums the word for now. But the game’s looking at a $25,000 starting goal. Seems modest, doesn’t it?
Now, here’s the kicker (pun intended again, I guess). VR MMORPGs have had a rocky road. Remember Orbus VR? It’s no more. And Zenith? Yeah, Ramen VR hit pause because of money woes. At least Ilysia VR is still kicking. That one’s doing okay, thanks to a crowdfunding victory back in 2020.
The Resolute team knows Orbus like the back of their hand. On Discord, Souza chatted about how Orbus was nice for the Quest 1 days, but it’s not exactly cutting-edge anymore. Yet, Zenith and Ilysia gave everyone a glimmer of hope.
December 2026 is when Eldramoor is set to drop, fingers crossed. We’re talking PC VR, Meta Quest 3, and even headsets that haven’t popped out yet. Alpha’s supposed to show up late 2025, and the beta should hit around Summer 2026.
Curious? You can snoop more once the Kickstarter opens on June 24th and stretches to July 24th. And if you’re itching to wishlist, the Steam page is alive and kicking.
