Absolutely! Here’s a reimagined version:
Alright, so I stumbled into this World War Z VR game on Quest the other day. It’s kinda the first time the franchise has dived into VR, and honestly, I’m not quite sure what I was expecting. I mean, I’ve seen hordes of zombies in movies and other games—who hasn’t? But this one? It’s got like 200 zombies swarming you at once, supposedly. That’s gotta be some kind of record, right? Anyway… let’s chat about whether more zombies actually means more fun.
So, the zombie game playbook is pretty simple, generally speaking. Fewer zombies usually means scarier zombies. But here, it’s like the opposite. One or two zombies aren’t much of a bother. You could probably knock them out with a half-hearted flick of your wrist or something. But get ready, ’cause there’s a swarm that’ll come your way. Like, picture a branch dripping with zombies. Really paints a crazy picture, huh?
Oh, the visuals—scatterbrained, right? Yeah. No clue why I noticed this, but it just stuck with me. Anyway, there’s this setup where you can just mow down these bigger crowds as they gang up like a loose horde. Makes it manageable, I guess.
There’s not a whole lot going on in terms of different enemies, not that I noticed anyway. I mean, I only got to try out the starting missions and some Tokyo level. But occasionally, you get this weird, glowy zombie that’s not running the mill. It’s a nice switch-up when things start getting predictable.
I bumped into all kinds of wacky zombies—gas zombies, muck throwers, screamers, and boomers that whoosh right in your face. But here’s the kicker, they don’t just overwhelm you like in the movies. They’re kind of polite? Like watching one of those old kung fu films where enemies attack one at a time. Except these guys kinda replenish, like a weird conveyor belt of doom feeding in more zombies. Odd, right?
So, is more better? Not exactly lending itself to a simple answer. But boy, there’s definitely more going on. You’ll gun down groups of 20 so easily if you’ve got ammo in check. And then you’re herding zombies through narrow spots, hoping your AI mates aren’t off daydreaming in some corner.
Speakin’ of those AI buddies… yeah, they’re not the brightest. It’s sorta like they don’t realize what’s happening half the time. Could be nice if it had multiplayer, but nope. Just you and the dummies. That’s kinda… meh?
Oh, and the puzzles! Like, there I was in Tokyo, fumbling with a bomb, rotating this, shaking that. Didn’t see that coming. Seemed like a nice break from the usual zombie-knocking. Plus, there’re goodies all over the place, like locked machine guns you gotta find keys for. Keeps you pokin’ around, right?
All in all, there was more depth than I thought, and it kinda makes me wanna jump back in. Especially to see if later levels keep that tension up. Wasn’t totally sure where the story was going—basically just went “bang bang”—but it was good fun.
So yeah, looking forward to digging deeper when World War Z VR drops on August 12th for Quest and SteamVR. We’ll see how the guns, the movement, and all the narrative (or chaos) pan out. But until then, maybe check it out yourself if you’re curious. 😊
