Okay, so here’s the deal — Nintendo’s big guy, Shuntaro Furukawa, kinda had to get on stage and say “sorry” for the whole Switch 2 disappearing act. Apparently, they keep running out of stock. Who’d have thought, right? He promised they’re beefing up their production line or whatever to get more consoles out there.
And get this, Furukawa stood up at some big shareholders’ meet and went, “Yea, umm, my bad… People want to buy these things, but we can’t keep up.” I mean, imagine trying to buy one of these things only to find they’re all gone. His apology? “Sorry if your cousin Bob or whoever still can’t snag one.” Classic.
Speaking of which, some weird process in Japan where you try your luck through some lottery to buy it? Sounds wild, right? So many folks wanted in that his message on X (don’t ask why it’s called that, I have no clue) went viral — over 2.2 million hands in the air hoping for a chance. Kinda crazy when you picture it.
Oh, and they’ve done like, four rounds of these draw things already. But some fans still didn’t hit the jackpot. So they’re like, “Hang tight! Round five is coming.” It’s like a game itself just to buy a console.
Here’s a twist — some shops are finally selling them straight. Imagine walking into a store and seeing them just hanging out on a shelf. Mind-boggling. Almost feels too easy now, doesn’t it? Furukawa says they’re on it, trying to get these Switch 2s in as many hands as possible. Fingers crossed.
So, if you’re into gaming, you probably know it launched with Mario Kart World. Lots of other games are coming down the pipeline — Donkey Kong Bananza and Super Mario Party Jamboree (no, really) in July. Drag x Drive is hot on their heels in August. Pokémon Legends Z-A will drop in October, and it just keeps going. Hyrule Warriors is slated for this winter, though who knows exactly when. Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4 are so far out you might as well forget about them for now.
The damage? Well, in the UK it’ll set you back £395.99. If you’re across the channel, that’s €469.99. And Stateside? $449.99. Pretty penny, huh?
Oh, and there’s a launch trailer out there somewhere. It’s probably all over YouTube if you’re curious. But honestly, knowing Nintendo, it’s probably packed with that quirky, charm-filled jazz they’re known for. Maybe check it out if you’re feeling it. Or don’t. Your call.
