Alright, so get this. This week is all about some Switch 2 thingy or something — not to spill the beans but whoops, here we go. So, first week of August, and it’s like this weird mix of tranquil chaos. Seriously, you’ve got Gradius Origins strutting in from that March Switch 1 blowout like it’s the laser savior for NES Pro Wrestling. Then, there’s a remake of House of the Dead 2 — but tread lightly, it’s one of those Forever Entertainment joints. Feel me? On the flip, you’ve got your anime fix with the new Demon Slayer caper and Fate/Hollow Ataraxia. Both polar opposites and yet, they somehow coexist in this bizarre gaming ecosystem.
Then there’s this game, The Edge of Allegoria, which for some reason looks like Pokemon RBY got a spit-shine in HD. Somehow not the copyright terror you’d expect this week. Then you’ve got Team17’s Ritual of Raven, just chilling. Oh, and last week, total curveball with a Partner Showcase — yeah, just cozying up by the fire and bam! Another blow to our "Directs Without Saga Reveal" streak. Square Enix, give us a breather. And hey, more Harvest Moons popped over to the Switch, and Taito’s "Field Day" — just another Archives drop. Pretty wild, huh?
Now, about that EggConsole game thing, so it’s like you can totally play it without speaking Japanese? Apparently! It’s like this action RPG set in the Xak universe, but if it starts jabbering, you might, well, get lost. Just a heads-up, y’know?
North America Lineup
Demon Slayer -Kimetsu no Yaiba- The Hinokami Chronicles 2 jumps out Tuesday at about sixty bucks, give or take a few for our Canuck pals. Gradius Origins hanging around forty dollars. Wednesday’s big drop is Fate/Hollow Ataraxia Remastered. The House of the Dead 2 remake, Fitness Adventure Pro, all bringing the noise. Smaller shops like The Edge of Allegoria and Turbo Kid, along for the ride, with prices that won’t break the bank.
And don’t even get me started on Ritual of Raven or Drakkar Crew. For some stranger picks: Slopecrashers, Cats on Duty – cheaper than dinner out. Yarn Guardians, hits Friday. Just, a ton of stuff, you know, like Mystery Hotel or Zooparasite. Loads of options at different price points, just hoping someone notices them at all.
Europe Roster
Across the pond, Demon Slayer struts in on Tuesday too with Gradius trailing not far behind. Fate/Hollow Ataraxia taking up midweek. Your wallet’s not safe from The House of the Dead 2 or Fitness Adventure. Ritual of Raven around too. Some budget friends like Turbo Kid, Ants Empire Colony – the usual suspects, you know the drill. Crayon Classic, not a typo I guess, it’s in there! Sales and markdowns making Roki 90% off till August 17, so if you’ve been holding out on that one, now might be your moment.
Japan Scene
Heading over to Japan, Yuukyuu no Tierblade commands a hefty price. Gradius again, being all consistent. Fate, Corpse Party in various flavors, The House of the Dead 2, just enough to keep things interesting. Loads of small titles like Hit! Spin! Watermelon Party (no, really) and Magibrick. And what’s Short on Money Survival doing in there? Literally anyone’s guess. Why those titles catch my eye, don’t ask me; something about ’em.
So yeah, what a lineup, right? I’m not sure what half of these cost in yen translates to, but they look pretty rad. It’s like wandering into an arcade but in your living room, with a pocket full of random change and a sense of wonder. Or, er, maybe just a list of games. Anyway, where was I?
