It’s almost time for Directive 8020 to hit PS5 on October 2! Yeah, the latest from the minds behind UNTIL DAWN. I mean, do you remember the chills from that one? If you’re into sci-fi horror with a twist, well, this one might be up your alley. Or not. Who knows?
First off, their thing is all about, like, choices. Earth? Toast. Our beautiful blue ball is on the clock — 12 light years away, Tau Ceti f teases hope. Kinda. Here’s the kicker: The ship Cassiopeia crash-lands, and surprise-surprise, they’re not solo. It’s one of those “oh no, we’re not alone” tropes.
Picture it: Alien life picking off humans like a buffet, mimicking them. Creepy, right? And now the crew’s got this big “do we save ourselves or everyone on Earth?” dilemma. Talk about pressure. So they’ve gotta outsmart these shape-shifting aliens. Like, what would you even do?
The game flaunts these big features too. Apparently, it’s next-gen horror with Lashana Lynch starring as ‘Young’. She’s been in stuff like ‘The Woman King,’ so maybe the acting chops bring another level to it. Sounds intense just hearing about it!
Oh, and there’s supposedly some maddening real-time alien chase going on — lurking in shadows and all. It probably feels like one of those nightmares you’re desperately trying to wake up from.
Distrust is rampant, because really, who the heck’s human at this point? Game leans into these questions of trust and identity hard. Expect to be jumpy and paranoid, questioning if your crew buddy is just acting super sus or what.
Also, death… many forms… Like, I could go on, but it’s space horror. You get the gist. The usual existential dread bits, haha.
So, yeah, if you’re hyped for the edge-of-your-seat kind of game, might want to look into it. Could be worth your time if you need something to derail you from reality for a while. Or, hey, even if you want to get spooked out of your wits.
